March 20, 2007 - Album's Up

I've decided to stop holding off and post my entire new album "The Big Finish". You can, of course, request a real-life copy, with real hand-made artwork, but you'll have to email me or MySpace me to make such a request. I sincerely hope that you enjoy the new shortish album/longish ep. Drop me a line if you like it or it moves you.

March 05, 2007 - Site Upgrades

I've been hard at work on the site, making it so very nice for you all. I've re-organized and added content to the albums and lyrics pages. They now have drop-down toggle menus, which I think makes the whole thing a lot easier to navigate. Also, I've updated the photo page with new photos, and made it so that it reads from a Flickr account. This won't make much difference to you, except that it means that it's a whooooole lot easier to put new photos on the site now. Amazing!

March 02, 2007 - New Music!

March 02, 2007 - RPM Challenge Update

I've been silent because I've been recording. There's no time for web pages, not even a little post, when you're recording! I've been recording because (as you know looking below) I entered myself in the RPM Challenge, and now we all benefit: me because in the last two weeks, I've increased my recorded output by 10 songs, and you, lovely reader, because you get to download these songs from this site when I post them later today. March has never been such a relief!

february 08, 2007 - the RPM challenge

It's been a long time since I made any posts, but that doesn't mean that I'm not hard at work! I've signed myself up for the RPM Challenge. This, for those of you who don't know, is a challenge to make an album in the month of February. Write, compose, record, master, and post, all in one month.

I think this is a great concept, although daunting. I mean, I've made an album in two months, but never one. So we'll see how that goes. My recording equipment is better now than it was when I did either Exploration Slideshow or Little Ruins, but I've got a lot less time to spend on it.

So I'm taking a week off of work, writing licks and thinking up ideas as fast as I can. Wish me luck!

November 6, 2006 - Back on MySpace

I've decided to get back on the MySpace horse, because they've tailored their end-user policy to allow for musicians to upload tracks without MySpace owning their soul. Being that I don't have a lot of soul real-estate for lease or rent-to-own, this decision was difficult, but I find it necessary and prudent. So there you have it: Latif Learned's MySpace Page.

October 30, 2006 - Update!

It may not look much different (in fact, it doesn't look different at all), but I've updated this news page to read from my Blogger blog. They are one and the same. You don't ever really need to click on that link. You won't see anyting that you don't already see here. But it's pretty cool, so I thought you all might like to know.
In other news, I'm working on new album covers for Little Ruins, and a new EP for your ears. Hopefully that will be up here soon.

I've been hard at work. I added a "blog" page that feeds from my MySpace blog into the pretty format of this page. How sweet is that? I also uploaded another demo track, called alone with trains. I hope that you like it.

I added a photo section, and generally made the page a bit prettier. Let me know what you think!
Within a day or two here, I'll have a way for everybody to order CDs through this page, without having to resort to the incredibly archaic method of actually emailing me (at latiflearned [at] gmail [dot] com). Very soon. Also, I will soon be adding a "dates" section, when it's not so pitifully empty...

First off, I'm on NPR's Open Mic Podcast starting today, apparently. They told me that they'd be featuring my music, but they didn't tell me when. It's a good thing I checked it out, or I might have missed it entirely. If you want to download the track, you can subscribe to the NPR "Open Mic" Podcast in iTunes, or go here to download it. Tell all your friends!
NPR mentioned that I was in a band called Ugly By Now. Go to Seasac Records to listen to our catalog (for free!), in addition to some truly sweet tracks by other bands such as Fujimo and Molocai. They've also got some Latif Learned B-Sides.
I'm now on MySpace, as well.
Also, mad props to Alex Marvar, photographeuse extraordinaire, who took the photo that NPR chose to represent me on their page. You should go look at her other photos, because she's got some amazing work.

Hello, world. I just updated the page to include a "news" section. In theory, this is where I'll put the happenings and goings-on.
For instance, I made this page. That's happening. That's going on. You can download my entire first album and songs from my second album (Little Ruins). That reminds me of some more news: I made a second album. And if you didn't know me until just now, I also made a first one.
